Jerry A. Stevenson is a tax litigation attorney and founder of Stevenson Law Group in San Diego, California. Mr. Stevenson retired from a successful career in the U.S. Marine Corps at the rank of Major. After his retirement from the Marine Corps, Mr. Stevenson worked in the international accounting firm, Ernst & Young, LLP. He primarily provided tax and financial services to high net worth individuals.
Mr. Stevenson enlisted as a private in the Marine Corps and during his Marine Corps career he was fortunate enough to be admitted to Purdue University where he completed his Bachelor of Science degree in Accounting and Finance.

After graduation, Mr. Stevenson was commissioned a second lieutenant in the U.S. Marine Corps and accepted to the Marine Corps Judge Advocate program. After graduation from Purdue Mr. Stevenson had a fellowship as an accounting systems programmer with the Congressional Black Caucus in Washington, D.C.
Mr. Stevenson studied law at George Washington University Law School. During law school and after graduation Mr. Stevenson performed functions as a prosecutor, criminal defense intern and Student Legal Assistance Attorney at Navy Legal Service Office in Pensacola, Florida.
After completion of law school and admittance to the Florida Bar Mr. Stevenson was appointed a Judge Advocate in the United States Marine Corps. During his tenure Mr. Stevenson and his office were instrumental in a joint IRS-DoD investigation and prosecution of a multi-million dollar tax fraud scheme. Mr. Stevenson has significant courtroom experience with over 150 trials before both judges and juries in both military and civilian tribunals.
Mr. Stevenson has successfully advocated against the IRS and successfully reduced his clients’ tax burdens. Additionally, Mr. Stevenson has drafted over 5,000 estate tax plans for military members. His experience enables him to advise on a manifold of complex estate planning issues that face our military members.
Mr. Stevenson is active in the San Diego Community as a member of the American Bar Association, San Diego County Bar Association, a board member for several non-profits, and a member of the San Diego Military Advisory Council. Mr. Stevenson is admitted to practice before the Supreme Court of California, the Supreme Court of Florida and all lower courts, the Court of Appeals for the Armed Forces, the Navy-Marine Corps Court of Criminal Appeal, and the U.S. Tax Court. Mr. Stevenson’s personal decorations include a distinguished Service Award from the American Bar Association, two Navy Commendation medals and several other military personal
awards for high achievement.
Mr. Stevenson and his family are avid skiers and Mr. Stevenson spends much of his free time enjoying all that San Diego has to offer.
